Exploring Passions

Within the field of social work there are so many avenues to follow and so many different causes to advocate for that it’s often hard to choose.  Here at GSSW, if there’s a specific area that you are really passionate about, then you can choose that specific track whether it’s community organizing or clinical with high risk youth. Beyond that even, you still have electives to pick and choose which courses you’d like to take outside your track if there’s an area you’re interested in but don’t necessarily fit within your track.  For example, I am a clinical track with a focus on high risk youth, but I am also interested in international social issues for certain populations, which would fall more into the community track.  Luckily, there’s a course offered – “International Social Development” – that is open to students in all tracks who are interested in international issues.  I just had my first class so I’m still getting into it, but I’m very excited about it!
